You get the call, you’ve got the job – elation, relief and then a ‘pause’…….do I want the job, why do I want the job? Take a deep breath, put the euphoria to one side (for at least an hour!) and think through the key points:
When working with a client on how to manage a career move, we look at ‘personal foundations’ and decide on a plan – however all of that is wasted if it’s just a good-looking project plan. You have to look at the metrics of driving your personal project.
Having well prepared questions when the inevitable “What would you like to ask me?” questions arise is essential; this shows your genuine interest in the role, that you have taken the initiative on preparation and they will also give you additional information to help you know if this is a role you would like to progress with.
In the competitive landscape of job hunting and career change its proven that networking stands out as a crucial tool for landing your dream role or change. Yet I observe my own coaching clients struggle to initiate networking connections and conversations, finding them daunting, leaving them insecure and unsure of where/how to begin.
